Dalbergia sissoo, known commonly as North Indian rosewood or sheesham is native to the Indian subcontinent. Sheesham wood is highly valued for its durability, strength, and attractive grain patterns and is used for furniture, tableware and musical instruments. The tree is also used for erosion control, as a shade tree, and in agroforestry systems.
